Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a consultant in General Adult Psychiatry to provide clinical leadership in the North Carrick Community Mental Health Team. This community post has become available at an exciting time for Mental Health services in Cornwall as we embark on a journey of transformation to develop services for the future.
The developmental aspect of the post will include a greater emphasis on primary care interface working as part of a new 'core model' of mental health care, in addition to the typical CMHT psychiatric work. This offers the post-holder a stimulating opportunity to influence service development alongside their clinical responsibilities.
We are seeking individuals who are open to new ways of working, interested in developing services for the future, or who may be looking to consider research or teaching in addition to a clinical role.
We are open to discussing appropriate recruitment and relocation packages to enable suitably qualified individuals to move to Cornwall.
The post holder will work with another Consultant colleagues to cover the Carrick area . The total district population is approximately 118,000, covered by one CMHT with two consultant psychiatrists. There is a planned programme of demand and capacity mapping funded by Health Education England (CLEAR – Clinically-Led workforce Activity and Redesign) across community mental health services in Cornwall.
Thepost-holderwill coversurgeriesin Truro, Carnon Downs, Perranporth, St Agnes, and the Roseland peninsula. Outpatient clinics are primarily held in Truro Health Park.
The Consultant contributes to clinical leadership within the team but is only medically responsible for individuals that he/she has contact with. The consultant is not expected to care co-ordinate.
The post is supported by a full time Specialty Doctor who works under the consultant’s supervision. and it is likely as Trainees numbers increase that post may also attract a Doctor in Training, Trainees allocated are primarily community-based but will also have on-call duty commitments to the inpatient services. The consultant will be Clinical Supervisor for the Specialty doctor and any Trainees and as such weekly supervision time will be ring-fenced.
