Are you an enthusiastic Physicians Associate (PA) with an interest in Dermatology? Are you passionate about developing your clinical skills within a diverse supportive team?We are looking for you!
Come and join us in the Bristol Dermatology centre @ Bristol Royal Infirmary, we are inviting applicants to join and be the first Physician Associate to join the dermatology team.
The Physician Associate role is being developed to work alongside the departments doctors and multidisciplinary team. The role will give the successful candidate and opportunity to work in a progressive dermatology team. You will have an Educational Supervision and annual appraisal to overview your career development and mentorship.
All applicants must hold a qualification in Physician Associate Studies and be listed on the Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Register to be considered for this post.
Successful candidates will work under clinical supervision of the consultant body on their pathway to provide and deliver high-quality care to patients.
They will be required to:
• Clinically assess and examine a broad caseload of patients with a high degree of clinical skill and knowledge.
• Competently interpret diagnostic tests and imaging and appropriately act upon the result, including timely escalation to senior clinicians.
• Be expected to provide suspected cancer and routine clinics, working towards two clinics per week, for both patient cohorts, and a weekly diagnostic biopsy list.
• Assist in the triage and assessment of patients referred to the on-call service.
• Develop extensive specialist knowledge and experience of the subspecialty in which they are working.
• Perform diagnostic and LA day case procedures under consultant supervision.
• Fully integrate within the multidisciplinary team, communicating with other healthcare professionals.
• Make complex referrals to appropriate specialists and enact their advice promptly.
• Provide health and wellbeing counselling to patients and their relatives.
• Contribute to the development of efficient care pathways following current best practices and national guidelines.
• Request and interpret results of investigations when necessary.
• Fully document all aspects of patient care and complete all required paperwork
