An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Berkshire Healthcare’s Children, Family and All-Age Division (CFAA) as Deputy Governance Lead. This is a key role within the division and the successful candidate will work with the Divisional Governance Lead, Clinical Directors, and the senior leadership team to support the Quality and Governance agenda in the division ensuring the governance, patient safety and quality processes and structures are robust and compliant.

The Division delivers a wide range of services which consists of two portfolios’: Child and Adolescent mental Health, Learning Disabilities and All-Age Eating Disorders, and: Universal services, Specialist children’s nursing and dieticians, paediatricians, children’s therapies, Peri-natal mental health, Family Safeguarding and Neurodiversity services (all age).

Berkshire Healthcare was the first combined community and mental health trust to be rated outstanding by the CQC. As Deputy Governance Lead you will have a varied role which will support the Division in achieving the trust values of Berkshire Healthcare as a caring organisation, committed to providing good quality and safe services, and working together to create innovative solutions.

This is a part-time role for 22.5 hours.
• Supporting the co-ordination and management of investigations, complaints, policies and quality control, within the portfolio and ensuring robust processes for shared learning are in place
• Supporting formal Investigations and Patient Safety Incident investigations [PSII]
• Coordination and implementation of consistent policies and procedures
• Overseeing Datix and establishing themes
• Risk management
• Developing, embedding and monitoring action plans.
• Co-ordination of CQC Standards within the portfolio
• Oversight of NICE guidelines
• Support that all aspects of governance are addressed across the portfolio.
• Work with the Divisional Governance Lead, the Senior Leadership team and Heads of Service to develop and support a culture of continual learning from patient safety information and data.
• Work with the Clinical Directors and Divisional Governance Lead assisting in establishing systems across the division to ensure that services meet their duties for reporting compliance across a range of activities are fulfilled.
• Work with Heads of Service and senior team to support new ways of working in everyday practice and ensuring that governance and safety are embedded in practice throughout the portfolio.
• Coordinate investigations, quality and CQC standards and NICE guidelines within the portfolio, or across the division as agreed with the Governance Lead.
• Undertake investigations and support clinicians undertaking other investigations developing the skills of the team.

The “must haves” for this role:

1. You must be educated to degree level or have equivalent health and social care experience.

2. Experience of working in the NHS, social care or a similar organisation is essential.

3. You will need to evidence an ability to implement innovative solutions or problem solving in partnership with staff.

4. You will be required to evidence experience of managing complex situations concerning safeguarding or risk, including the management of investigations and reviews.
