Are you a data leader looking for an opportunity to share your expertise and deliver change?

DWP is the UK's largest government department. We help people into work and support some of the most vulnerable people in society. DWP Digital creates digital services that almost everyone in the UK relies on at some point in their lives.

The DWP Data Strategy is a key enabler to our digital transformation. With more processes delivered digitally through our modernisation programmes, services have more data supply responsibilities and an increasing demand for data. Implementing our strategy requires strong data leadership in business domain areas.

Our Data Leads support their business area in modernising the delivery of data products and analytics in line with business priorities by providing expert guidance based on deep technical data expertise and experience.

As Data Lead for Health and Disability, you’ll support the Health Transformation programme, one of DWP’s highest priority workstreams. You’ll provide leadership and be responsible for a multidisciplinary data function covering areas such as data engineering, data science and performance analysis, supporting and coaching the team to deliver their role and develop their respective communities.

DWP’s vision is to make quality data secure and accessible so that we can better connect our services, improve the way our customers experience and use them, and inform our policy making.

Collaborating with teams responsible for designing and delivering continuous improvements to Health and Disability services, you’ll support digital teams to:

  • Capture richer digital data from citizen and agent interactions.
  • Respond promptly and confidently, in more innovative ways, and with more focus on priority outcomes.
  • Measure the value that matters through improved insight for design and reporting.
  • Maximise and build on automation to tailor intelligent journeys.

You will have a central role to play in implementing the operating model associated with our Data Strategy. You’ll do this by:

  • Providing coordination between your business area and key centralised functions, in particular the Chief Data Office and DWP’s Data Practice.
  • Prioritising and providing visibility of data initiatives and the adoption of strategic technology.
  • Developing skills capability to meet different needs and demands for data.
  • Ensuring clear lines of communication and responsibility at different stages of the data supply chain.

If you are a data leader and would like to support the transformation of our Digital Workplace, we’d love to speak with you.

We care about our employees and can offer you an environment that is family-friendly, supportive and inclusive in an organisation with real social purpose.
