An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the dynamicMedical Photography Department.


Medical Photographer  Band5   1.0WTE-18 monthsfixed term


Would you like to start, or develop, your career in medical photography in a dynamic, supportive team based inthe state-of-the-artmedical photographyfacility in the Brunel Building.


We areseekingacompassionate,motivated individual with a degree in medical photography or a degree in photography plus relevant clinical experience. Inaddition,the successful candidate will be AHCS registered/ eligible orqualifiedtoa registerablelevel.


The department provides acriticalservice supporting excellent care across the Trust and you will be delivering a high-quality comprehensive service including medical photography/video (studio/ward/clinic/theatre) and ophthalmic photography. Excellent communication/interpersonal skills, and a thorough understandingof image management / digital technology is essential.


You will support the department leadership by ensuring the quality and consistency of photographs and videos produced by the department as well asmaintainingIMI QAS Level 2, undertaking regular audits and training with the team as required and working with the Head of Department/Seniors Photographersto continually developandimprove the service.


You will be able todemonstratean ability to work independently, and with the team, to managethe workload and deliver projects within agreed timelines.




• To provide a medical photography/videoservice to inpatients and outpatients ofNBTas part of their medical records, medico-legal work, research, teaching and/or publication.

• To deliver a service in line with the departmental and Trust guidelines, abiding by allconsent,confidentialityand legal guidelines.

• To provide a photographic/videosupport service for public relations activities undertaken by the Trust following national and local standards.

• To support the multi-skilling work within the department to ensure an efficient service is delivered in line with departmental service level agreements.

• Todemonstrateincreasing independence and reduction in levels of support asmedical photographyprofessional competencies develop
• Actively engage in continuing professional development

Medical Photography

• Createmedical photography/videoadhering to standard medicalviews accuratelyinthestudio and while out in wards,clinics,and theatres.

• Apply professional photographic knowledge to ensure the quality of imagesareoptimisedin accordance withstandard views

• Assess situations andassistingpatients with dressing/undressing to ensureappropriate medicalphotography/video views are obtained.

• Accountable for own actions working within department guidelines,policies,and procedures.

• Provide Ophthalmic and Medical Legal photography adhering to SLAs and agreed timelines.

• Digital processing and finishing of images for the Medical Image Management System (MIMS).

• Act as a support resource to non-medical photography staff in the use of the WABA medical pics App.

• Processing and managing images provided by others, from out of hours services, for upload into MIMS

• Accurate data entry and updates within the Job Management System (JMS)

• Support the department inmaintainingthe quality assurance accreditationlevel 2from the Institute of Medical Illustrators (IMI)

• Ensuring all specialist medical photography equipment isalways managed safely and secure


Media

• Undertake public relations photography

• Medical photography for patient leaflets, teaching, research, posters etc.

• Accurate data entry within the Job Management System (JMS)

• Support income generation activities as appropriate





Multi-skilling

• Participate fully within the multi-skilling rota covering photography, video,fundus/OCT,and poster printing

• Able to adjust short term plans / day rota to reflect the demands of the medical photography and illustration department

• Medical video recording and editing, as appropriate

• Competent to undertake fundus photographyand OCT/OCT-A

• Undertake poster printing


Training and personal development

• Supportthetraining,and development of junior / less experienced staff

• Maintain own competence within medical photography and associated information technology.

• Maintain own competence to enable full participation in the multi-skilling rota delivering a safe,effectiveand efficient service

• To be pro-active inmaintaininga Continuous Professional Development Plan


Service Evaluation and Planning

• Toparticipatein service evaluation and development initiatives within theMedicalPhotography. This may include evaluation ofservice level agreement, models of service delivery, and ensuring effectiveness.

• To attend Departmental meetings and liaise with the Head of Dept/ Senior Photographerson Health & Safety, cover, leave and general issues, so thatgood communicationismaintained.

• To develop a working knowledge of the principles of Clinical Governance and their application to professional practice.


Resource Management

• Tobe responsible forthe security and care of equipment and resources used in the course of daily work, ensuring standards of infection control and safety aremaintained.

• To ensure the safe carriage, storage and proper use of records and equipment, working within lifting and handling guidelines.
