As improvement support manager within the newly formed South West Clinical Improvement and Transformation team, the postholder will working be at the heart of the pathway, service and system improvement activity, helping deliver tangible results in improved patient outcomes and experience and drive efficiencies to the NHS.
We are looking for a candidate with strong experience in project development, implementation, and evaluation. The successful candidate will be flexible and resourceful and have strong communication skills with experience of working with multiple stakeholders.
The postholder will work and travel across the South West, working alongside health system and clinical specialty leaders from across the NHS in a fast-paced and varied environment. This role offers interesting challenges and opportunities to take the initiative in delivering innovative improvements in healthcare.
The Clinical Improvement & Transformation team is part of the regional Medical Directorate. The team will support Integrated Care Systems to deliver clinical improvement and transformation, helping them to reduce unwarranted clinical variation and to effectively deliver prioritised transformation of health and care across the South West.
The postholder will be required to support the Regional Clinical Improvement and Transformation team to deliver a wide range of improvement focussed activity ensuring that work is planned and managed effectively and assisting in its successful delivery. Key roles and responsibilities are likely to include:
• Contributing to the design, development and delivery of improvement activity, including projects, workshops and events.
• Supporting the development of tools and resources including best practice case studies
• Leading research, analysis and evaluation exercises
• Supporting the delivery of direct, hands-on support to systems improvement requirements
• Drafting briefings and communications for senior stakeholders.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
Main duties of the job continued:
The Improvement support manager will also provide programme coordination and project management expertise to:
• Develop project plans, work request forms and communication documents and ensure documentation is organised and complete.
• Identify and support the setting of appropriate project controls including tracking and reporting against milestones.
• Support the identification, measurement and tracking of benefits. This includes developing and maintaining an Intelligence repository to ensure that learning and good practice is shared across the region.
• Forge close positive working relationships, in order to support an effective matrix approach to achieve the programmes objectives.
• Support the organisation of networks and groups established to support system and provider leads in the delivery of national and regional ambitions.
• Support relevant internal NHSE programme committees, boards and working groups.
• Support the system improvement team to draw together learning opportunities across the region; share and spread good practice.
• Assist with implementation and co-ordination of PMO functions including reporting and risk management.
It is desirable that the post holder has a working knowledge of improvement methodologies and is able to work with project teams to apply that knowledge.
