Our goal is to increase social connections and reduce loneliness and isolation.

As a Compeer Befriending Officer, you will facilitate and support the befriending programme by maintaining regular check-ins and providing support to a high number of matched Compeer pairs. Interactions will take place over the phone, via Zoom, or email. Your role is crucial in creating and maintaining befriending relationships, requiring excellent organisational skills, time management, and the ability to reflect and problem solve.

  • Processing volunteer reports.
  • Maintaining accurate records on our client record system.

  • Conducting assessments and make referrals as appropriate.
  • Building positive relationships with Jami service users, volunteers, and colleagues.
  • Raising safeguarding and welfare concerns.
  • Creating case studies when needed.
  • Proactively recruiting Compeer volunteers through community engagement and outreach.
What you will need:
  • Secondary School Education and/or equivalent experience in social care, social work, community work, or counselling.
  • Experience in a service delivery setting.
  • Experience supporting volunteers.
  • Experience in recruitment, this could either be volunteer or paid recruitment.
  • Experience in the mental health or charity sector in a supportive capacity with vulnerable people, children, and young adults.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of the Jewish community.
  • People management skills.
  • Excellent IT, organisational and administration skills.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations.
  • Ability to engage and support people with mental health.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and an efficient and productive approach.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships.
