This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a diverse role, within a high profile organisation where you’ll be at the centre of shaping the wider people strategy of DVLA, that puts our customers at the heart of its agenda.

This role is at the heart of understanding the interweaving, complex strands impacting on DVLA’s workforce plans today and in the future, and setting out the narrative that helps senior leaders understand the changes that the Department needs to consider and their part in these.

You will lead a multi-disciplinary team that drives the use of data and insight to meet the aims of the people strategy in accordance with data standards and regulations.

You will have a thorough understanding of the DVLA strategy and the business goals of the organisation both strategically as well as tactically and provide strategic leadership on the management of data and insight commissions, working collaboratively to reduce duplication, prioritise the use of resources and improve efficiency. You will lead service delivery improvements of people analytics across the DVLA in conjunction with the wider DfT family, as well as leading on the Strategic Workforce Planning commissions, you will provide insight and direction to the Executive team providing robust data, intelligence and direction to Cabinet Office.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Being accountable for the delivery of data and insight to drive forward the effective delivery of the key priorities of the Civil Service People Plan and DVLA People Strategy. Including horizon scanning for key issues and working with subject matter experts to understand the implications of trends on the delivery of priorities.
  • Acting as a trusted partner to senior leaders including the Executive team providing strong problem-solving skills with excellent judgement and political awareness to enable data driven decision making in a complex and dynamic environment.
  • Being responsible for the development and ownership of the DVLA Strategic Workforce planning strategy. Improving alignment and maturity in Strategic Workforce Planning across DVLA by staying connected and updating practice and guidance, embedding it in ways of working to inform all workforce decisions.
  • Being responsible for the HR data governance strategy ensuring compliance with legislation whilst optimising available business intelligence, including the ownership of processing and release of all HR data ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and standards.

This role will be based in Swansea, and we will be operating a hybrid working model that allows you to work between home and on-site giving you greater flexibility about where and when you work, subject to business needs and this also allows for ongoing support, development, and collaboration with colleagues.
