As a Senior Software Developer, you will be designing, building, and testing software that makes a real difference to our frontline staff and helps improve road safety
You will be working within a multi-disciplinary team using Agile delivery methodologies, delivering solutions focused on user needs.
You will:
- Have experience in web front-end or back-end development, with detailed knowledge of at least one programming language preferably Javascript or TypeScript.
- Work with our development teams to ensure we build sustainable and robust digital products.
- Work to modern development standards, practices, and techniques
- Develop solutions that put the user and user experience first

Additional Information
This role can be based in Bristol, Swansea, Nottingham, Newcastle, Oldham or Birmingham. Your presence at one of these locations will form part of the working arrangements agreed with you. We operate a hybrid working model giving you greater flexibility about where and when you work. Our expectation is that you will spend a minimum 60% of your time at your base location. Visits to other DVSA sites or work locations count towards this.
Please note, this role will require regular attendance at our Swansea office, where the majority of the team are based.
Government Digital and Data Profession Allowance
The role is part of the Government Digital and Data profession and utilises an enhanced Capability–Based Pay Framework which provides access to a Digital and Data allowance.
The base pay is £40,808. In addition to this the role includes a Digital and Data allowance of up to £16,592.
The value of allowance awarded will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated through the selection process.
Please note, the new Capability–Based Pay Framework comes into effect on 1st August 2024 and this will be the earliest available start date for this role.
