Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes offered at the Hailstone restaurant, including tandoori garlic dishes, house specials, traditional dishes, Balti specials, biryanis, and vegan options.
- Ensure all food is prepared to the highest standards of quality, flavour, and presentation.
- Develop new menu items and update existing ones to keep the menu fresh and exciting.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in the kitchen, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
- Manage kitchen inventory, including ordering and monitoring supplies to prevent shortages or excess.
- Work collaboratively with the restaurant management team to coordinate kitchen operations and ensure timely service.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Monitor and manage portion control and minimize food waste.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared according to the restaurant’s recipes and quality standards.
- Adapt to special dietary requests and accommodate customer preferences when possible.
- Stay updated with culinary trends and incorporate them into the menu as appropriate.
Job Requirements:
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Chef or in a similar role, preferably in an Indian cuisine setting.
- Strong culinary skills with a deep understanding of Indian cooking techniques and flavours.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and lead kitchen staff.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Passion for cooking and a commitment to delivering high-quality dishes.
- A culinary degree or diploma is preferred but not essential.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.
