Role: Data Analyst - Data Migration Project
Contract Length: Anticipated 9 months
Location: Manchester
Pay Rate: Competitive Market Rate
A Data Analyst is required to support a project dealing with the migration of large volumes of data ensuring all data is faithfully and fully moved to its new location and the data stored in these retiring systems is disposed of in accordance with data disposal and security policies and the retiring legacy systems are securely decommissioned.
You will be a versatile data analyst to work across several projects and to work with data in many critical operational and legacy data stores as well as working with data in a wide range of upstream and downstream systems. This work will involve both descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, with an emphasis on developing a highly granular analysis of all data sources, mapping out the journey that all data takes as it moves between systems, and to embark upon a journey of continuous improvement for data quality.
Candidates must be eligible for security clearance and reside in Greater Manchester/Northwest area.



Key accountabilities;


Develop a detailed technical understanding of all data across operational data repositories and all legacy data stores and data warehouses
Contribute to the enterprise data strategy through the creation of key data documentation, including:
Data Dictionaries
Data Catalogues
Data Architecture
Business Data Model
Logical Data Model
Analyse data in all key operational systems and develop documentation that describes all data objects and their operational function
Develop the data dissemination diagram for all systems involved in the delivery of operational data to officers
Data Quality improvement through the analysis of data management practices and identification of improvement initiatives in areas of data cleansing, data integration and data quality assurance
Prepare data migration pathways between existing legacy systems and long-term strategic data stores
Examine the source of low-quality data and data defect problems and develop solutions that improve data quality in all key operational systems
Create data dictionaries and data catalogues for key systems and integrations







Key knowledge & experience:



Experienced data purist who has the ability to manage high volumes of data.
Structured Query Language writing in a variety of complex schemas, datasets, and systems
Data cleansing and preparation
Enterprise Data Management
Data modelling and data governance
Hypothesis and scenario testing
Data analysis and exploration
Statistical knowledge and programming
Experience creating statistical data visualizations
Experience creating dashboards and reports
jDocumentation authoring and communication
Policing Domain data knowledge
Problem solving and solution development.
Data Quality and Continuous Improvement
