Interim PMO Manager

Pay Rate: up to £464.94 per day PAYE depending on experience
Hours per week: 36 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
This opening assignment is for 10 months

Lead and manage the OSS Criminal Exhibit Change Programme tactical projects and provide leadership and progress reporting. Help develop consistent standards and results within the various work streams.
Undertake all aspects of project management reporting to ensure risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies are monitored and benefits and budgets are tracked and escalated when required.
Provide an accurate flow of information to senior decision makers to enable them to make the right decisions at the right time, to contribute to the successful delivery of the programme.
Key Responsibilities:
Supports with a variety of cross-functional projects from beginning to end, driving tight definition of project scope, goals and deliverables that support the OSS business plan.
Use of the existing suite of PMO tools in planning, risk and issue management, benefit management, reporting and governance across the portfolio / programme, helping to set and communicate processes, embed good practice techniques, document management and standards
Works with Project Leads/Sponsor and others as needed, to define project objectives, and other criteria such as timeline, resources, budget, and completion criteria, and document in a project charter.
Identify where cross project dependencies exist and track and monitor these in support of the wider Portfolio.
Establishing and driving robust governance, project or programme management arrangements, including project management documentation and delivering training as and when required.
Collating, quality assuring and analysing project information and presenting in report format for discussion at portfolio and performance board.
Works with team members to clarify task assignments, milestones, and deliverables.
Proactively manage and identify risks and issues, developing contingency plans ensuring that they are resolved in a timely manner and escalated to Portfolio Manager when required.
Manage stakeholder expectations and communications to ensure alignment on project goals.
Support Project Leads to ensure solutions are effectively transitioned to a defined business as usual approach and the project is closed effectively, ensuring that any post-project reviews are appropriately established with the business.

Knowledge:
A good practical knowledge of MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint and Word, as well as other document sharing/ storage systems.
A project management and PMO professional with expertise in complex project environments using a variety of planning, control and governance tools.
Deep understanding of how things really work in the organisation and understanding the barriers to change.
Experience:
Experience of working in a large and complex organisation.
Experience of working in a Portfolio Management environment, co-ordinating small to medium complexity projects; demonstrating ability to run concurrent projects
Line management of at least 1/2 employees to deliver a complex programme of work
Skills & Abilities:
Strong stakeholder management skills to engage a diverse group of stakeholders and manage relationships across varied disciplines, with the proven confidence to negotiate, influence and provide challenge when required and report on portfolio or programme performance at a change board level if required.
Highly developed project management and PMO skills with an ability to deliver at pace and to deadline.
The ability to collate and analyse qualitative and quantitate data to enable data driven decisions and performance management
Able to work flexibly in managing a range of project assignments and able to work independently or as part of team.
Ability to tailor PMO and project management techniques depending on needs and the environment.
The ability to proactively recognise where problems exist and to proactively implement solutions.
The ability to engage confidently across OSS (Operational Support Services) and other partners at the required level
