Job objectives and responsibilities

· To ensure the security and safety of the client team staff, contractors, working colleagues;

· To protect the assets of the client by following recognised best practice techniques/procedures

· To ensure the security and safety of the site

· To effectively organise and manage workloads as required without compromising quality of service provision

· To respond to emergencies and assist with the evacuation and searching of the buildings by following all requirements of the site Emergency Response procedures.





Main duties

-Liaise on a daily basis with staff and the client and operational management teams.

-Participate and contribute positively to the security team to ensure a positive customer experience for all visitors/customers. Attend meetings as required and provide reports and recommendations on the activities of the security operation.

-Be committed to Health & Safety and ensure that you are familiar with all VSG/ Client Health & Safety policies and procedures. Police and encourage observance of all site security & safety policies, in particular ensuring that the access control, key control, smoking and Health & Safety policies are observed and enforced.

-Perform at the start/end of each tour of duty verification checks of all the security equipment located within the areas of work ensuring that all systems are fully operational and where they are not, initiate corrective action.

-Respond to all incidents in a timely and effective manner by directing the activities of all affected persons, aimed at all times to safeguard the assets of the Client ensuring that direction from senior line management is sought where appropriate.

-Maintain all required records as directed by senior line management to ensure that full transparency of events and their handling is possible.

-Act responsibly when receiving and holding all site keys that may be drawn in conducting your required tasks.

-Participate with and apply recognised techniques when conducting entry and exit searches at the designated entry points as a part of the management of effective access control procedures.

-Manage a polite and effective meet and greet service to all staff and visitors, whilst strictly observing access control procedures.

-Report building/equipment fault reports where appropriate escalating to the FCC and if necessary, request the assistance of senior line management in resolving.

-At the start/end of each tour of duty ensure that the prescribed unlock/lockdown procedures are conducted correctly.

-During corporate events, liaise with the SCC and senior line management to ensure that adequate levels of security are maintained during the life of any event and complete any additional closedown checks that are required after the event has concluded.

-Follow any such reasonable instruction as issued by Senior Line Management.





Person Specification

· professional appearance and presentation

· Excellent communication skills and a strong customer focus.

· Must hold a valid SIA Frontline Licence.

· Intermediate level PC Skills (MS Office)

· Literate and Numerate

· Methodical and well organised

Good communicator - verbal and written





Health and Safety responsibilities

-Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times;

-Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment;

-Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received;

-Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system;



Information Security

-Ensure compliance with Mitie's information security procedures in all activities;

-Proactively identify and report security risks to your manager;

-Report actual and suspected security incidents;
