Job Purpose/Summary:

To identify research activities that are pertinent to Analox’s business & deliver research outcomes that are proven to the extent
that they can be developed into products or discounted as opportunities.

Main Responsibilities/Key Tasks:

1. Recommend where research effort should be spent.

1. What to push now & what to leave for later.

2. Use judgement based on technology readiness / size of market / cost of development to select the best areas to concentrate
on.

3. Agree proposed research programme with the Senior Engineer and Products team.

2. Find good research partners & work with them.

3. By following the Analox research process, manage the successful completion of the research programme & associated research
projects.

1. Build and evaluate prototypes.

2. Assess bought in products.

4. Demonstrate the research outcomes:

1. To the design team so that the product can be developed.

2. To internal and external customers in the form of presentations and papers.

5. Work within development teams as a sensor technology specialist as a part of the NPI process.

6. Work with all company departments to ensure that the research programme aligns with the company’s needs.

7. Keep records of all research activities so that they can be readily picked up again in the future.

8. Support design team in developing research outcomes.

9. Implement improvement in the research process through measurable performance indicators.

Education/Qualifications:




Essential:

Desirable:

* 2:1 or higher Degree in Physics, Chemistry, EE or other applied science / technical degree


* Masters in Physics or closely related subject.




Skills and Knowledge:




Essential:

Desirable:

* Comfortable going from theoretical concepts to a practical solution

* Basic electronics knowledge

* Device development or equipment design / development




Experience:




Essential:

Desirable:

* 2 years experience

* Experience in experimental design / testing

* Some experience in electronics or at least basic concepts with aptitude and will to learn

* Some experience in programming software, experimental control or data processing

* Experience applying physical principles to real world challenges

* Project management experience.

* Experience presenting to a wide audience of differing skill and experience.

* Experience in digital and analogue electronics development.

* Software development for data capture and analysis.
