The Dean Trust is seeking to appoint a talented and hard-working Female Teacher of Physical Education to join our dedicated team at Ashton on Mersey School. The core purpose of the role will be expected to teach Physical Education across the full age and ability range.

Ashton on Mersey School is part of The Dean Trust. The school is an over-subscribed mixed 11-18 school situated in Greater Manchester. It enjoys a close partnership with Manchester United Football Club, its principal sponsor. It has a thriving sixth-form, SCITT and Maths Hub status, ensuring its reputation in the region.

We are looking for an individual who possess:


To plan teaching to achieve progression in pupils’ leaning
To set high expectations for pupils’ behaviour, establishing and maintaining an excellent standard of discipline through well focused teaching and through positive and productive relationships.
To use a variety of teaching methods, including ICT, which sustain the momentum of pupils’ work and keep all pupils engaged.
Deliver engaging PE lessons for pupils at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 (including at GCSE, A-Level PE and Vocational Sport qualifications at Level 2 and 3.)
To make effective use of assessment information to inform planning and maximise learner progress.
To mark and monitor pupils’ classwork and homework, providing constructive oral and written feedback and setting appropriate targets to maximise pupils’ progress.
To develop, evaluate and update schemes of work across all Key Stages.
To keep accurate and current records
To be familiar with the statutory assessment and reporting requirements and know how to prepare and present information reports to parents.
To be familiar with the Code of Practice on the identification and assessment of Special Educational Needs and as part of their responsibilities implement and keep records on Individual Education Plans for pupils when required.
To evaluate their own teaching critically and use this to improve their effectiveness
To attend and contribute fully to meetings, progress evenings as required
To contribute to activities identified in the Faculty Improvement Plan
To contribute to the planning and delivery of wider curricular activities
To carry out the roles and responsibilities of a form tutor.
