Jonathan Lee Recruitment has an exciting opportunity for a skilled and collaborative Foundry Technician to join our client's inclusive and welcoming team. This full-time Foundry Technician role is based in Stourbridge and offers an annual salary between £29,000 - £33,000 per annum and benefits.
Please be advised this will be initially working on a permanent morning shift, but after a probation period you may be required to work a permanent afternoon, so you MUST be flexible to working permanent mornings or permanent afternoons Monday to Friday.
The hiring manager would ideally like to hire someone who has previous experience working within a Foundry environment and has experience with carrying out Sand Testing, however, they would consider training someone in this role if you don't have previous Sand Testing experience.
As a Foundry Technician, you will provide technical data through laboratory testing of moulding sand used on the production line to provide quality assurance that all the moulds will produce the desired casting quality.
You will also contribute to testing of metal by providing temperature recordings of 1st and last moulds casting temperatures, whilst monitoring pour speeds.
In your first few weeks in this Foundry Technician role, you can expect to:
• Complete all hourly sand checks on both backing and facing sand (Compactability, green strength, Permeability, moisture, Mould hardness, Wet Tensile + sand temperature)
• Review knockout temperatures hourly
• Complete daily loss on ignition checks from all core machines and raise any highlighted issues
• Assist with core machine calibration

• Previous experience within a foundry environment
• An understanding/previous experience within Metallurgy
• Spectrographic analysis, microstructure analysis and understanding the effects of alloying additions
• FLT License - Preferred
