Are you:

• A Nursing or Health / Social Care graduate, currently registered with an appropriate Health & Social Care Regulatory Body?

• Experienced in applying MCA and DOLS, and implementing Best Interest Meetings

• Currently working at senior manager level in the NHS or other Public Sector organisation?

• Able to convey complex information in a variety of appropriate methods, ranging from Senior Managers to patients who lack capacity?

• Able and prepared to be based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital site in King’s Lynn for 5 days a week?

In this role you will lead on the strategic development and implementation of our statutory duties and requirements under the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) working across the Trust and with our partners to ensure that the principles, function, and application, of MCA /DoLS/ LPS is embedded within all appropriate policies and services.

In addition, you will be responsible for the operational development, management and delivery of systems and processes in respect of MCA/DoLS/LPS to support the Trust meet its legal duty.

Lead on the strategic direction of practice in relation to the Mental Capacity Act and Work with internal and external partners to embed the principles of the Mental Capacity Act and improve practice across services and embedded within the Trust

Provide specialist expert advice to staff and service leads on policy, practice and legislative development in relation to the Mental Capacity Act and LPS.

To design, develop and implement strategies, policies, procedures and guidance for MCA/LPS regulations in the Trust and support quality assurance mechanisms and analysis

To co-ordinate and ensure statutory compliance with all requests in respect of DoLS/LPS. The Trust is a Responsible Body for all such statutory requests

To establish a Best Interest Assessor Forum, that ensure that professional standards and quality assurance within the application of the DOLS and LPS is met.

Lead on audits relevant to the provision/ compliance with the Mental Capacity Act /LPS

Provide reports to the Trust Executive Committee and Safeguarding Forum to ensure that they are sighted on any performance issues or legislative changes which impact upon Trust in relation to the Mental Capacity Act or LPS.

To promote the use of and monitor the operation of the IMCA service to act as operational monitor of the Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy Service (IDVA).

Provide expert professional advice and support to staff and provider health agencies in relation to complex cases which fall under the MCA/LPS
