Crynodeb
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH) is a world-renowned centre of clinical excellence and one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the UK. Delivering the benefits of research and innovation to its patients, people and populations is a key strategic priority for the Trust, capitalising on the breadth and depth of the Trust’s unique relationship with the University of Oxford (OU).
The NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) is the largest and most successful research partnership between OUH and OU. Since it was first designated in 2007, the BRC has been awarded more than £350m for translational research and related activities. The BRC funds innovation across 15 research themes and has a core team that supports researchers across these themes in a number of areas, including academic career development (ACD).
This is a senior support role within the BRC with a focus on building capacity in the health research workforce and developing the next generation of research leaders by supporting and coordinating research training opportunities for multi-professional researchers across the OUH, OU and NIHR research infrastructure. Training represents a key activity for NIHR, shaping the research and clinical workforce and ensuring that it has the right skill mix for the future.
The Academic Career Development (ACD) Project Manager is a key member of the BRC’sTraining Huband will work closely with other members of the BRC ACD team on developing and coordinating a strategic plan for research education for all the various professional groups across Oxford. The post holder will oversee the implementation of our overarching ACD vision and strategic direction, including coordinating effective day-to-day delivery and evaluation. They will have significant independence for driving this and will be encouraged to generate and pitch ideas.
The post holder will also be an active member of the Oxford Joint Research Office (JRO). The JRO was set up between OUH and OU over a decade ago and has expanded recently to include research support teams from Oxford Brookes University and Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust (OH).
The role can be worked as a hybrid role, with in office and home working. We welcome discussions around flexible working.
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.
The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.
Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.
