The role
At Volkswagen Financial Services UK (VWFS) we are on an exciting journey and looking for an experienced External Communications Manager to join our Digital and Direct team. Our business is evolving and the External Communications Manager will collaborate with multiple stakeholders and senior leaders to plan and deliver timely, relevant, and compelling communications to our Volkswagen Group retailers and take a lead role for our Public Relations activity.
This role has full responsibility to ensure our products, services and strategic messages are being communicated to entire business functions that have a key role to play in driving sales and delivering a first-class customer journey.
This is a hands on delivery role, where two days are never the same. You will solely be responsible for the creation of annual content plans, co-ordination of strategic and operational communications, building and sending communications from our platforms while ensuring all messages represent the VWFS tone of voice.
The Retailer Communications Business Partner will have excellent copywriting and editorial experience, proven relationship building skills at all levels and is comfortable to work in a fast paced environment.
What you will be responsible for…
- Managing the development and delivery of all commercial and retailer communications activities in line with the VWFS UK Sales and marketing strategy
- Leading our PR activity: responding to media queries and planning and launching content on our social media platforms such as LinkedIn.
- Proactively identify, develop and deliver accurate, clear and compelling communications materials spanning all products and services
- Copywriting and editing a series of retailer and PR communications materials including videos, press releases, blogs and technical guides.
- Manage the VWFS Editorial resource to ensure priorities are understood and all work is delivered
- Manage the retailer communications suppliers and platforms via monthly supplier meetings and monitors and challenges activity to ensure KPI's are being met.
- Builds, tests and sends all retailer html email communications from the Salesforce platform ensuring stakeholder sign off has been completed before go-live.
- Manages retailer contact data in Salesforce
- Proof-reads all communications meticulously to ensure accuracy of communications and sign off with the relevant business SME's.
- Manage and consult on crisis communications providing advice and guidance to senior leaders
- Improve the awareness and understanding of enterprise-wide strategic projects
- Advise, influence and support the business function senior leadership team to translate, communicate and embed all key strategic initiatives
- Act as a brand guardian for the corporate guidelines to ensure the VWFS brand identity is upheld in all communications
Who are we looking for?
- Previous external communications, including PR, experience
- Experience of managing multiple, changing priorities and deadlines
- Previous supplier management experience
- Experience of presenting and communicating effectively at all levels
- Ability to constructively challenge and share opinions to create solutions
- Builds credibility and can communicate at all levels across the business
- Commercial awareness
- Creative approach to problem solving.
- Strong literacy and written communication skills essential
- Previous copywriting and editorial experience
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver to deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Comfortable in working in a face paced, changeable environment
- Excellent stakeholder management experience
- Communications, Journalism, PR or Marketing related degree (or equivalent experience)
