Join our client as a Therapeutic Lead and become an integral part of a primary school community, providing essential support and guidance.
The organisation embraces a holistic approach to supporting children, young people, families, and school staff. They focus on the child and their entire support network, including parents, carers, extended family, teachers, teaching assistants, and more.
By collaborating with clusters of local schools, it enables them share insights on effective strategies, family engagement, and behavioural plans. This collaborative model not only enhances pastoral care but also allows schools to share costs and resources, maximising the benefits for everyone involved.
Are you the right person for the job?
• A recognised qualification in child/adolescent psychotherapy, child counselling, adult psychotherapy or counselling, art or drama therapy
• An understanding of attachment in schools, and interventions with children, young people, and adults
• Membership of a professional body such as BACP, UKCP, BAAT, HCPC, or BAT
• Experience working with children, young people, or adults
• Experience with marginalised families
• Experience in an educational setting (desirable)
• Excellent time management, planning, and organisational skills
• Ability to work autonomously and use initiative
• Motivational and supportive team leadership skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good IT skills
• Ability to build personal and professional credibility and effective relationships
• Integrity and high levels of confidentiality and discretion
• Commitment to best therapeutic practice
• Resilience and a flexible, hands-on approach
• Positive attitude with a friendly and approachable manner
What will your role look like?
As a Therapeutic Lead, you will be responsible for running a service across a primary school, two days-four days per week, focusing on a whole-school approach to emotional health and wellbeing. Your role will involve:
• Therapeutic Support: Offering support to children, parents, and teachers to promote emotional health
• Team Management: Leading and managing a team of therapists
• Managing Referrals: Handling and prioritising referrals to ensure timely support
• Drop-in Sessions: Conducting drop-ins for parents, staff, and children
• School Initiatives: Promoting a mentally healthy school environment through assemblies, workshops, and training sessions
• Service Autonomy: Developing and implementing your service within the school
• Staff Wellbeing: Providing wellbeing opportunities for school staff
