The job will start in October 2024 and start at King’s College Hospital then rotate to Guy’s and St Thomas’. The candidates who are successful and appointed to year two, they will then rotate between Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospital.

King’s College Hospital is one of the largest and busiest in London, with a well-established national and international reputation for clinical excellence, innovation and achievement. The hospital provides a broad range of secondary services, including specialist emergency medicine (e.g. trauma, cardiac and stroke).
The Partnership brings together the world leaders in heart and lung care and research across Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (including Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals), King’s College Hospital and King’s College London. In leveraging the best from each organisation our goal is to deliver the best cardiovascular and respiratory outcomes for people, wherever they receive care, and to improve the health and wellbeing of populations.
Beyond the advanced training in Heart Failure, there will be additional responsibilities in assisting in the provision of inpatient and outpatient care for our heart failure patients. The post-holder will take part in relevant outpatient clinics per week with appropriate consultant supervision and support. The post-holder will contribute to looking after patients on the wards and seeing referrals. At King's the candidate will be part of the oncall rota. The expectation is that the candidates will be involved in an audit or research project.
Other roles may be required or developed as appropriate to the post-holder and clinical service. This is envisaged as an excellent opportunity to gain experience that will assist in furthering a career in heart failure, either towards a subsequent application for a consultant post in cardiology with special interests in heart failure or for applications for SpR training.
