Lifeguard
We have an opportunity for you to join our team supporting the newly reopened swimming facilities at Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre. These roles are at the heart of the operation of our centres, ensuring we deliver excellent services to our customers each and every day. Your role will consist of helping and advising customers on leisure activities, bookings and all things customer related as well as ensuring the safety of customers using the pool.
Reporting to the General Manager of the centre, you will need a “can do” approach and a willingness to learn and mature on the job.
We offer a nurturing and supportive workplace, along with strong induction and training programmes, to help you to grow and develop your career pathway for the future.
When working as a lifeguard at the swimming pool, the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification will be needed. Training for this can be provided through Halo provided you are willing to commit to the course. Please see course prerequisites below:
Every candidate attending a NPLQ course must be 16-years-old at the time of taking the NPLQ final assessment and be able to:

Jump/dive into deep water

Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds

Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water

Tread water for 30 seconds

Surface dive to the floor of the pool

Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permits

Halo centres are all vital community assets which are well used and supported by the local population. There is always room for growth and you will be a key player in the future of this centre.
All new applicants are required to complete a 10 hour online Welsh Work Course.
