Job summaryWe are delighted to invite candidates to apply to work with us in this dynamic and expanding ENT department in a beautiful area of Yorkshire.
The ENT department sits within the Head and Neck Directorate (ENT, Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Restorative Dentistry and Audiology) which sits within The Surgery Care Group. The department provides an ENT Service to York, the whole of North Yorkshire and parts of West Yorkshire.
ENT Surgeons currently work at York, Scarborough, Bridlington, Selby, Harrogate and Malton, with out-patient and day case surgery at the peripheral sites. In-patient activity is at the York site where there is a well-established, dedicated Head and Neck Ward. This post is based at York Hospital, however will involve cross-site working.
Main duties of the jobWe are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and forward-thinking ENT surgeon to this post, who will work well within the team to continue to develop a number of leading regional services.
Candidates will contribute to the ENT on-call rota, currently 1 in 6.
The department and Trust both offer a welcoming and dynamic working environment, with opportunities to participate in teaching medical students from the Hull York Medical School (HYMS). Research opportunities are encouraged.
Candidates must be on the GMC Specialist Register for Otorhinolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery or be within twelve months of obtaining the CCT at the time of interview.

Job responsibilitiesIndividual job plans will be discussed with the post holder on appointment, with the Clinical Director to finalise the job plan which will become operational on commencement. All job plans are agreed in line with the Trusts Job Planning Principles.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential- Candidates must be on the GMC Specialist Register for Otorhinolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery or be within twelve months of obtaining the CCT at the time of interview.
- Hold a medical qualification registered with the GMC
- Hold a license to practise with the General Medical Council
- Substantive NHS experience
- Experience of teaching undergraduate and post graduate trainees
- Is able and willing to take on a leadership role
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate clinical experience and skill in all areas of ENT.
- Experience of supervising SpRs/specialist trainees
