We are currently recruiting a Housing Support Worker on an ongoing, temporary basis in Wigan on behalf of one of our Social Housing clients. This is a full-time position, where you will be required to work a 3-week rolling rota doing a mix of weekdays and weekends, between the hours of 8am and 8pm.


Key responsibilities:

  • Managing referrals and allocations, interviewing applicants to produce support plans and risk assessments
  • Minimise voids and arrears through keywork, providing support with budgeting, welfare benefits and life skills, making referrals and signposting to external agencies where appropriate
  • Conduct health & safety flat checks, raising any concerns that may cause harm, risk or injury and carry out routine testing of fire safety equipment such as doors, alarms and emergency lighting
  • Ensure repairs are reported and carried out in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate confidential and sensitive records, including data sheets, risk assessments and support plans
  • Monitor and enforce scheme tenancy conditions and house rules
  • Work in partnership with other team members and stakeholders such as Social Workers, Probation, Health Professionals, Education, Police and Benefits agencies

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience of working with vulnerable individuals who are facing homelessness & being able to produce individual risk assessments and support plans
  • Knowledge of welfare benefits with the ability to provide support with budgeting and life skills
  • Ability to prioritise a busy workload whilst working unsupervised and using your own initiative
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to a wide range of people, and calmly deal with emergency situations

What you'll get in return
