Job Summary:

The Shopkeeper is responsible for the daily operation of the store, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service, maintaining outstanding store conditions, and managing inventory. The ideal candidate will have a background in retail or wholesale, with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Sales and Customer Service:

• Welcoming and assisting customers with their inquiries and purchases
• Handling customer complaints and resolving issues effectively.
• Providing product information and recommendations to customers
• Upsell and cross-sell products to enhance customer experience and maximize sales.

• Inventory Management:

• Stocking shelves and arranging merchandise displays.
• Monitoring and managing inventory levels
• Monitor stock levels and order new stock as needed to ensure product availability.
• Receive, inspect, and organize incoming stock.
• Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.

• Store Operations:

• Maintain a clean and organized store environment.
• Ensure all products are accurately priced and labelled.
• Implement and maintain store policies and procedures.

• Financial Management:

• Processing sales transactions and handling payments.
• Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using the store's point of sale (POS) system.
• Manage cash register, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and reconciliation.
• Assist in budgeting and financial planning to meet sales targets and control expenses.


• Merchandising and Displays:

• Promoting special offers and sales to customers.
• Arrange product displays to maximize visibility and sales.
• Rotate stock and ensure products are properly presented.
• Implement promotional displays and signage as directed.

• Staff Supervision (if applicable):

• Collaborating with team members to achieve sales targets and customer satisfaction.
• Train, supervise, and motivate sales staff.
• Schedule shifts and manage staff performance.

• Safety and Compliance:

• Ensuring compliance with store policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Handle emergencies, such as accidents, theft, and security breaches.


Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

• A Degree in business, retail management, or a related field is a plus.
• Proven experience in a retail or wholesale environment.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant professional experience.

Skills:

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Proficiency in using POS systems and basic computer skills.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to lift and move heavy items.
