What’s the Job?
We’re looking for talented SVQ Work Based Assessors or an Assessor who can deliver both qualifications to join the Commercial Services Team on a Part Time; Professional Cookery and Hospitality Services 21hrs per week permanent contract. However, the Commercial Development Team are tasked to grow the business, therefore there may be an opportunity to increase the contracted working hours.
This role is part of the Commercial Services Team and will assess candidates undertaking SVQ’s and Modern Apprenticeships in Hospitality and Professional Cookery. The candidates will be working with local employers throughout Dumfries and Galloway, the objective of the assessment process is to demonstrate the candidate is occupationally competent, based on the National Occupational Standards.
This will involve planning assessments with candidates and their employers, conducting the assessments, which are likely to involve direct observation of the candidate in the workplace and providing feedback on the assessment. The documentation and assessment decisions are recorded in a portfolio of evidence and should complying with all college and awarding body procedures.

We are looking for a person who has the relevant qualifications and experience, that is enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge and experience and enjoy mentoring and supporting candidates to be the best they can be.
We are looking for an individual who is a good team member and capable of working alone. Communication skills are key to the success of this role.
The ability to develop a relationship with the candidates, employers and
within the team is essential.

You will be qualified to a minimum of HNC (SCQF Level 7) or equivalent in an appropriate subject, have an Assessor’s qualification or willing to work towards, experience of supporting learners in the workplace a Full UK driving licence and have good IT/Administration Skills

To succeed in the role, you will have some or all of the following:
•This role would suit someone working at SCQF Level 7
•Experience of working in a similar assessing role is desirable, you should have the relevant assessor qualifications however, willing to work towards the Assessor Qualification will be considered.
•Extensive knowledge in your subject area, be a Good Communicator, Organised, Team Player, and have Creative abilities.
•Strong customer service/ organisation/ teamworking/ relationship building skills.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Experience using MS Office and online portfolio systems
•Hybrid Working will be considered with occasional visits to Campus for training and face to face events/ meetings
