Full Time, Permanent, 38 hours per week Monday – Friday, with opportunities for overtime evenings and weekends depending on need

Northern Ventilation Services Ltd was established in 1998 and manufactures and installs ventilation ductwork systems. Based in Killingworth, Newcastle it has its own sheet metal manufacturing premise, and undertakes installation projects across the UK across a range of sectors commercial and industrial sectors: Schools, hospitals, student accommodation, manufacture. We work for a range of clients within the building services sector.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an experiences and skilled duct fitter to join our team of installers. Projects may be Regionally based, or in the wider UK so you should be flexible and able to work away from home, sometimes for a week at a time. Depending on the size of project, you will work either as a pair with a mate, or as part of a larger team of installers / mates.
You will be required to work from drawings to assemble, install, pre-commission, and prepare for testing of ductwork made from a range of materials, including steel, aluminium and plastics.
You will be working under close but not constant supervision in an efficient and economical manner so you should be dedicated and hard working with the ability to work on own initiative. You will have a good knowledge of the systems and how components in the system relate to each other as well as being able to: plan and undertake allocated work tasks to install system components and assist in pre-commission and decommissioning.
REQUIREMENTS
CSCS Card - Experienced/ Skilled Worker card ESSENTIAL / Supervisor card DESIRABLE
NVQ - Level 2 or Level 3 in Ductwork installation or other relevant trade, or registered with a training provider ESSENTIAL
Other training - IPAF, PASMA, Face Fit, Working at Heights, Manual Handling, Abrasive Wheels DESIRABLE
Supervisory - SSSTS, IOSH managing Safety DESIRABLE
Work Experience - Minimum 3 years experience of on-site ductwork installation ESSENTIAL
Driving Licence and use of own vehicle - ESSENTIAL
Flexibility to work away from home for work purposes - ESSENTIAL
JOB DUTIES include, but are not limited to:
§ Carry out ductwork installations in multiple industry sites across the North East of England, and wider UK
§ Select materials and fittings according to product being installed, knowledge of materials, and job standards and specifications.
§ Layout of fittings and duct, including manually locating and marking dimensions and reference lines on sheet metal, flex and duct pipe.
§ Ensure Stock is kept up to date and tidy, and deliveries are arranged to ensure continuity of installation works.
§ Receive equipment / materials at site.
§ Securely store and monitor all equipment and materials in on site
§ Maintain tools needed in trade, and regularly inspect for wear, tear and damage before use.
§ Install assemblies on site according to drawing specifications using hand tools, portable power tools and other specialised equipment
§ Work at heights using fixed and mobile platforms; assist in the safe use of both fixed and mobile platforms
§ Obtain the appropriate site permits to undertake necessary works e.g. hot works, ladders
§ At all times ensure you, and those working with you, observe safety rules relating to PPE and safe working practices on site.
§ Complete and return all site records, including safety checks, regularly and in a timely manner.
§ Identify and undertake adjustments and alterations to components to deliver the installation in line with drawings, job standards and industry specification.
§ Identify any variation to planned work required to complete an installation, and carry out after seeking and obtaining agreement from both your supervisor and the client
§ Work collaboratively with other trades to ensure a co-ordinated and efficient installation.
§ Represent NVS Ltd in a professional manner at all times
§ Liaise with contract managers / supervisors and clients to ensure a smooth completion of organised works
§ Inspect assemblies and installation work for conformance to plans, specification with trade standards both by eye and measuring instruments e.g tape measure, rule, level
§ Housekeeping - Maintain a clear working environment at all times
§ Dispose of any debris or redundant offcuts generated by work activity on site
§ Perform routine installation activities without direct oversight or on-site assistance
§ Assist in training and development of new operatives on site related subjects
§ Undertake non-installation work in support of the Manufacture shop, as assigned
§ Conform to all applicable NVS Ltd policies and procedure
§ Complete Training as required for the role
§ Perform other duties as directed by the NVS Ltd Supervisor or manager.
