Your new role
As Research Economist you will support the development and distribution of surveys, aimed at collecting data for cost/benefit analysis, whilst engaging with stakeholders via various channels, including 1:1 interviews, to boost quantitative survey results.
You will support the analysis of the survey data and the estimation of market-wide costs for preparers, including through the estimation of econometric models. You may also be tasked with other responsibilities such as:

  • The creation of a cost of capital model to be used as input to the endorsement criteria assessment of IFRS 18.
  • Work aimed at estimating costs of non-adoption/carve-outs.
  • Estimation of direct benefits for users (based on survey results and additional engagement).
  • Estimation of baseline costs for preparers (based on survey results and additional engagement).

What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have proven research experience gained in industry (consulting, government, NGOs) or academia, which will be supported by a master's degree in economics or finance. You will have experience of conducting surveys and administering questionnaires, whilst also having conducted qualitative interviews. You will have knowledge and understanding of capital markets, ideally UK capital markets, and will offer good written report writing experience. You will have the ability to work as part of a team and deliver to tight deadlines.
What you'll get in return
You will be offered the opportunity to work for an employer with a strong work/life balance ethos, supported by a salary paying up to £52,000 per annum, plus excellent benefits, including 30 days annual leave (pro rata), an employer pension contribution of 10 % and hybrid working from the Birmingham office.
