Job Title: General Teaching Assistant - Full Time (KS1)

School: Two Form Entry Primary School

Location: Morecambe

Start Date: Monday 3rd June 2024 until Friday 19th July 2024

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am until 3pm (1 hour for lunch)

Position Overview:

We need a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and hard-working KS1 (Key Stage 1) team.

Role & Responsibilities:
- Providing support to pupils within KS1 (Key Stage 1).
- Assisting with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the classroom setting.
- Supporting the teacher in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
- Cultivating a positive and inclusive learning environment for all pupils, including those with challenging behaviours.
- Implementing interventions to support students' social, emotional, and academic development.
- Collaborating with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other professionals to assess students' needs and progress.
- Working closely with colleagues to adapt lesson plans and materials to meet the diverse needs of pupils.
- Offering one-on-one or small group support to pupils with SEN, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Monitoring and recording pupils' progress, behaviours, and achievements, and providing feedback to the teacher and SENCO.
- Communicating effectively with parents/carers, providing updates on pupils' progress and behaviour.
- Attending training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in behaviour management and supporting pupils with SEN.

Requirements:
- Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification or equivalent.
- Previous experience working with children or young people of all abilities, preferably in an educational setting.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Behaviour management skills, with the ability to implement effective strategies to support pupils with challenging behaviours.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
- Excellent teamwork skills.
- Understanding of different SEN conditions and their impact on learning and behaviour.
- Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced classroom environment.
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or a related field are desirable.
- Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance, or willingness to obtain one.
- Commitment to promoting inclusion and equality for all students.
