operate over 150 SPAR stores across the North of England, which include Petrol filling stations, Post Offices, Butchery Units and
Deli’s. We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a post office clerk.



More About the Role

As a Post Office Clerk you will be required to work as part of our post office and retail store driving customer service;
excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this role as you will be working closely with the customers and
other members of your team to maximise sales. Although sales are important we want our customers to enjoy visiting our shops and
ultimately come back again, it is your job to provide help and assistance to the customer and ensure they find everything they
need whilst they are in our store. Product knowledge is essential for you to respond to customer enquiries and also make
appropriate recommendations.



Here’s What You Can Expect to be Doing

* Maximising sales by delivering excellent customer service
* Controlling costs and waste
* Till operation and cash handling
* Selling financial products and services to meet targets
* Selling stamps and dealing with letters and parcels
* Paying out pensions and benefits
* Processing bill payments, car tax payments, vehicle registration, and passport and driving licence applications
* Selling travel insurance and foreign currency
* Controlling and replenishing stock levels
* Maintaining security within the store according to Company procedures
* Ensuring that all store standards including customer service, health and safety are maintained.
* General cleaning duties
* Maintaining and updating administration in accordance with the existing procedure



A Few Things About You

* Previous experience in retail and post office is preferred but not essential
* Helpful, friendly and comfortable working with the public
* GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent)
* To be enthusiastic, committed and self-motivated
* To be able to work as part of a team but also on their own initiative
