Principle Duties:
Responsible for the coaching and assessment of knowledge assignments and work based competencies of students in Pharmacy-related programmes at Level and above. In addition to assessment, the Assessor Coach will aim to use innovative techniques to keep students engaged and motivated to successfully complete.

Functions:
1. Coaching:
(a)Conducting one-to-one or group tutor sessions
(b)Supporting learners to complete assignments
(c)Liaising with educational supervisors to support learners training in the workplace
2. Assessing:
(a)Student work placements
(b)Knowledge assignments
(c)Conducting professional discussions with students
(d)Implementing quality processes and identify areas to improve
(e)Attending and contributing to standardisation activities.

Key Accountabilities:
1. Coaching
(a)Coach learner on knowledge assignments.
(b)Coach learners on how to gather evidence for work-based competencies
2. Assessment
(a)Deliver assessment on a range of Pharmacy qualifications offered by the institution, which includes assessment of student work based evidence and knowledge assignments as well as producing assessment plans and other activities that may impact learning effectiveness;
(b)Monitor candidates' progress - this may involve examining their portfolios of evidence - evidence that records candidates' ability at work and demonstrates their knowledge and understanding. Hold professional discussions with students, where necessary.
(c)Record and provide timely and accurate feedback to students on their performance and progression/achievement.
(d)Undertake assessment as part of a wider assessment role
3. Quality Assurance
(a)Ensure effective quality control and continuous improvement in all aspects of this post in keeping with the College’s existing policies and developing quality assurance systems;
(b)Contribute to the review and evaluation of the programmes taught, provide advice on ways to improve delivery and help implement quality improvement plans.
(c)Attend regular meetings with other assessors to ensure the College is working towards meeting standards practises

4. Overall
(a)Work with several candidates at the same time and working as part of an Assessment Team with other Assessors and Internal Verifier.
(b)To provide information, advice and guidance relating to progression opportunities;
(c)Maintain a good rapport with learners, course coordinators, and other stakeholders;
(d)Motivate and support learners through their programme, providing training and timely feedback throughout and where necessary;
(e)Effective management of workload and diaries to ensure efficiency in learner visits (work placement and tutorials);
(f)To maintain learners portfolios to agreed standards;
(g)To complete accurate reports of learner progress;
(h)Co-ordinate with the Pharmacy Course Co-ordinator on day-to-day activities and escalate issues to the Academic Director, where necessary, to mitigate risks;
(i)To share best practices in learning delivery and assessments.
(j)Liaise with Line Managers and education supervisors to keep them informed of candidates’ progress

(a)To maintain own continuing professional development;

(f)To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably expected.

This role description is not exhaustive and as such, the post holder will be expected to be flexible.

FURTHER PARTICULARS & INFORMATION ON THE POST
Contract Type: Full-time, Part-time work and job sharing is possible
Probation: 6 Months
Hours: 37-40 hours per week, Monday-Friday
Notice Period : 1 month notice
An NVQ assessor should be able to encourage and motivate candidates.
Person Specification
1. Knowledge
Have recent experience of work based learning – teaching, support, marking, and/or assessing.
Knowledge of all quality assurance processes in line with Awarding Body quality standards.
2. Technical/Work-based Skills
Be experienced in the occupational area that they are assessing, at least to the level of award being assessed.
Work-based learning assessment experience.
Experience of employer engagement (in the Pharmaceutical industry) within an education provision setting
3. Experience
Experience of the requirements and good practices associated with work-related learning as well as apprenticeship schemes
Have the skills and ability to motivate and train learners and the ability to assess, monitor and evaluate student progress
Experience of leading a team or working in a team, managing individuals and offering professional support and guidance to team members
5. Qualifications
Hold a relevant assessing qualification (Level 3 Assessing Certificate, TAQA or A1/CAVA or equivalent) or be willing to work towards
Hold a minimum Level 3 Pharmacy qualification and registration with the GPHC
Up to date CPD
Desirable: -
Bachelor degree in a related field
