About us
Ash-Shahada Housing Association (ASHA) was established as a Muslim-led housing association, the first of its kind to be established in the UK in 1989. As a registered social landlord, ASHA has been providing housing in hostels, flats and houses in the prestigious London Boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark. Although established as a faith led RP it operates as a generic organisation whose Board, tenants and staff represent diverse faiths and communities. Our services are provided regardless of race, colour or religious orientation.


About you
We are looking for an experienced governance professional to join our senior leadership team during an exciting period of transformation and growth. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn and make impact across governance, compliance, risk and legal.


If you have experience in governance and compliance, then we can support with the necessary training to broaden your experience across all functions.


You will excel in forward planning, organising meetings, enhancing board packs and leading on best practice in governance. You will be adept at ensuring up-to-date policies, creating compliance programs and liaising with auditors. Skilled in managing risk policies, conducting horizon scanning, and influencing senior leaders, you also have experience overseeing legal matters and reviewing contracts.


Essential criteria:

  • Strong knowledge of corporate governance and compliance.
  • Experience of instilling best practice across governance to ensure compliance.
  • Substantial experience of preparing Board and Committee packs.
  • Significant experience in engaging with and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Emotional intelligence and a good sense of cultural differences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


Desirable:

  • Experience of dealing with legal cases and court hearings.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management and legal disputes.
  • A good understanding of the housing sector and current developments within the sector.
