Professional Officer BASW England
(National role with London focus)

BASW England are recruiting for a full time permanent Professional Officer to join the team. We are looking for an experienced social worker, who is committed to the BASW Code of Ethics and has an understanding of the current challenges faced by social workers in England and the people we support.

As a professional Officer you will actively recruit and retain members, lead and support BASW England branch development in London and other geographical areas. You will influence social work policy, practice and social work education in the field of children and family and adult services and to undertake other duties and tasks as per job description.

This role offers you opportunity to work with a wide range of people across many organisations in England.
This role will suit people who want a high degree of autonomy in their work yet function as a key player and colleague in a dynamic team. You will bring creativity, initiative and drive to a team whose impact continues to grow.

Special knowledge or skills required:
The role will support BASW England’s capacity to shape and respond to member recruitment, retention, engagement, social work education, reform, practice, research and policy development priorities.

The successful candidate will be an experienced social worker, registered with the Social Work England with:
 Experience of working with a broad sector of stakeholders and promoting ethical social work values and excellent practice
 Committed to inclusivity, anti-racist, anti-discriminatory and oppressive practice, equal opportunities and embracing diversity.
 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
 Experience of working in a demanding and flexible environment with competing time scales and priorities.
 Ability to respond to national and regional consultations in a tight timeframe.
 Skills in presenting to diverse audiences in a confident, engaging and professional manner.
 Training and facilitation skills
 Flexibility to travel to different locations in England, sometimes at short notice.
