About the Role:

Base Location: Perth, Glasgow, Oban, Inverness or Aberdeen

What is the Role?

- To help deliver our RIIO ED2 business plan of £4BN we are expanding our Large Capital Delivery team to include Strategic Project Liaisons to work across both our SEPD and SHEPD Distribution licence areas.

- The purpose of the Strategic Project Liaison role is to ensure that SSENs Large Capital Delivery (LCD) programme has a rigorous and effective approach to stakeholder engagement to support projects across the portfolio. This includes support in the development and implementation of a new portfolio-wide stakeholder engagement strategy. Working closely with the Strategic Project Liaison Manager and Project delivery teams you will manage and maintain relevant project, stakeholder and community engagement. Your duties will also include;

- Develop key partnerships internally and externally, with key external stakeholders e.g. Government bodies, local community councils and key local community members, and work with Corporate Affairs to engage with local MPs/MSPs and local councillors in support of all Projects and existing assets.

- Support Project Managers and Senior Project Managers, to guide LCD Project Teams in stakeholder management activities, ensuring project information is clearly and consistently communicated to both external and internal audiences

- Work closely with Corporate Affairs to develop external communications via press releases, social media and other media channels

- Ensure that stakeholder engagement strategies are recorded and implemented. You will assist Corporate Affairs in the identification of potential threats and opportunities across project delivery ensuring alignment against SSE Group-wide-strategy

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- A proven background in stakeholder management and communications with an understanding of stakeholder analysis, mapping and management methodologies.

- Experience of influencing and negotiating effectively at a variety of levels, demonstrating excellent stakeholder management skills.

- Effective communication and engagement strategies, with a good working knowledge of external and internal communications.

- Ideally with a Degree level qualification from a PR/Communications/Journalism background.

- A good understanding of electricity distribution and transmission networks would be beneficial.

As this role requires travel throughout the project areas, a full UK Driving Licence is required.
