Provide strategic direction:Lead the development and implementation of a robust clinical strategy for emergency medicine, ensuring its alignment with the Trust's overall objectives.

Champion patient care:Oversee the delivery of safe, timely, and effective urgent care services, fostering a culture of excellence within the division.

Drive performance:Set and achieve ambitious performance targets, while ensuring financial stability and long-term sustainability.

Expert leadership:Provide strong clinical leadership, collaborating with the Executive team and keystakeholders to navigate both internal and external challenges.

Governance and risk management:Establish and maintain robust governance and risk management frameworks within the division.

Active participation:Contribute your expertise and insights at the Trust Board level, further solidifying the role of clinical leadership within the organisation.

There has never been a more exciting time to join West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust! Major redevelopment worksare planned as part of the New Hospital Programme. These will be most dramatic at Watford General Hospital where up to 90% of buildings will be new.

• Leading the division as accountable manager for service and governance
• Leading the divisional management team (the Divisional General Manager, Divisional Head ofNursing, Clinical Directors, Assistant Divisional Managers and divisional HR and Finance Business Partners)
• Full responsibility for service safety and quality and divisional service and financial performance
• Sharing and advocating the Trust’s strategic vision and values and engaging all staff within the Division in the Trust’s objectives and ambitions
• Exerting a strategic influence at the Trust Executive and Divisional Board meetings to shape, drive and support the development of aligned Divisional Plans
• Representing the Medical Director at internal and external meetings, as required
• Providing expert clinical leadership to the implementation of the Trust clinical strategy & the design of the redevelopment plan for a new hospital as they relate to the Emergency Medicine Division
