Summary

Permanent. Nights 18:00 to 06:00 on a four-on-four off shift pattern

£22,011 per annum rising to £22,214 per annum plus 2.5% shift allowance plus £900 PA allowance for on-site emergency cover.

Security is an integral part of the larger Estates and Facilities Department. They are responsible for supporting and delivering all aspects of security and facilities related services throughout Canterbury and the wider Campus Network. The Security team aims to offer and deliver a flexible, value added and professional service to meet the need and expectations of students, staff and visitors.

We are currently looking to recruit a Security Officer to our night shift. The successful candidate will have experience in security or a related customer service-based area. Experience in the use of and monitoring access control/CCTV systems/fire alarm systems would also be an advantage as would a current SIA license.

Applicants will be able to demonstrate their customer focused skills and professionalism combined with effective written and verbal communication skills. They must be able to maintain the highest personal standards representing the front facing service of the University and to demonstrate the ability to deal with difficult and occasional stressful circumstances, in order to provide a clean, safe and secure environment for all students, staff and guests of the University. The ability to assess situations and respond efficiently and effectively is an essential requirement for this role. Candidates will be motivated, target driven and keen to learn and develop new or existing professional skills.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a DBS check before commencement of employment.

Prior consideration for interview will be given to those in the University redeployment pool.

A shift pattern of 4 days on / 4 days off is worked within these posts. You will not be required to work a mixture of days and nights. However, start and finish times may vary to maintain the overall flexibility required of the University security staff.
