Pay Rate: £12.92 per hour PAYE

Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday normal working hours

Role Length: This opening assignment is for 5-6 months

City: Cwmbran

Hybrid working – candidates are required to be in the office full time during the initial training

NB: Police Vacancy - only for candidates with a minimum of 5 years continuous UK address history. Please note that this vacancy is subject to a strict security vetting procedure.

The purpose of the role is to provide an effective information sharing service by researching, evaluating and compiling information from a range of data sources to support the organisation in complying with a range of disclosure requests, within Data Protection legislation and other statutory instruments such as Home Office Guidance and Acts of Parliament.

Key Responsibilities:

Receive and accurately process information requests from internal and external sources in a timely fashion and in accordance with Data Protection legislation and other statutory instruments (Home Office Guidance and Acts of Parliament)
Assess the validity of requests and where appropriate; retrieve and research information using local and national police systems. To evaluate information and make a determination about the relevancy and proportionality in respect of disclosing material to other parties.
Compile disclosure schedules, correspondence and summaries of relevant information in order to respond to requests, ensuring that third party data, sensitive police data or otherwise restricted information is redacted where applicable.
Liaise with police staff, police officers, the public, other police forces and relevant agencies to gather and research information required to fulfil the disclosure request, and respond to requests effectively.
Apply initiative and knowledge gained in the handling of sensitive, confidential and complex enquiries in determining disclosure material and minimising the risk of data breaches.
Manage fluctuating workloads effectively, prioritising own workload to minimise risk to the Force’s integrity for late or non-disclosure.
Ensure that quality standards and performance targets are met, as set out within local policy and service level agreements.

Qualifications:

Minimum of five grade A-C GCSE’s/equivalent level qualifications NVQ level 2 or possess relevant experience.
Level 1 Welsh essential (training will be given). Welsh language skills Level 2 and above are desirable.



Skills & Experience:

Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Must be prepared to attend and complete training in force systems and Data Protection courses required for the role.
Must be able to evidence previous working experience of analytical skills as an aid to making an informed decision.
Must have a sound working knowledge of the interrogation, retrieval and interpretation of information.
Must have previous experience of administrative support.
Must possess experience in providing excellent customer service.
Must have a sound working knowledge of the Data Protection Act affecting the processing of information.
Must be IT literate and have good keyboard skills in order to operate relevant computer packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to provide an efficient service.
