Are you a dedicated and compassionate nurse looking to make a significant impact in the field of oncology nursing? Do you thrive in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment where your expertise can directly improve patient outcomes? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

As an intrinsic member of our Colorectal Surgery Service, you will work closely with the Rapid Access Lower GI Pathway (RALGP) CNS team, colorectal consultants, and other multidisciplinary team members. Your focus will be on providing specialist oncology nursing care to patients with or suspected of having colorectal cancer.

Clinical Excellence:
• Support compliance with the 28-day faster diagnosis standard and 62-day cancer waiting times (CWT) guidance for the colorectal suspected cancer pathway, including Faecal Immunochemical Testing (FIT).
• Deliver comprehensive, consistent, and clear information and support to patients referred on the pathway, ensuring they understand their next steps.
• Enhance patient and carer experiences by maintaining high standards of clinical practice and care.
• Offer clinical expertise to primary and secondary care colleagues, ensuring pathway compliance, managing operational risks, and providing updates on individual cases as needed.
• Address long wait lists by regularly reviewing and prioritising patients awaiting next actions on the pathway.
• Lead and manage the RALGP CNS Team to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

Support and Guidance:
• Provide valuable advice, support, and information to nursing staff, associated healthcare professionals, and members of both the primary and secondary healthcare teams.
• Ensure that patients and their relatives or carers receive high-quality and effective professional nursing services based on current evidence of best practice.

We are dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusivity within our workforce and warmly welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, with a particular emphasis on encouraging those from disabled, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, as well as candidates from our local area.

As part of our commitment to supporting our employees we offer a range of benefits including:
• Generous annual leave entitlement starting at 27 days and increasing to 29 days after five years of service and 33 days after 10 years of service, in addition to the national Bank Holidays (pro-rata for part time staff);
• Membership of the NHS Pension Scheme:
• Flexible working opportunities;
• Enhanced hourly rates for unsociable hours e.g. night shifts, weekends, bank holidays;
• Opportunities for career development and training to help you progress in your role;
• Wellbeing support and activities to promote a healthy work environment;
• Access to our in-house physiotherapy service;
• On-site canteens offering subsidised meals;
• Subsidised staff parking (currently free);
• Free Stagecoach Bus Travel to and from work within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough

We strive to create a supportive and inclusive workplace where employees feel valued and empowered to excel in their roles. Join us and become part of a team dedicated to making a positive difference in our community.
