An opportunity has arisen within the All Age Continuing Care(AACC) team within the Midlands Nursing Directorate. The AACC team is responsible for managing the Independent Review process for Midlands.

NHS Continuing Healthcare is a package of care that is arranged and funded solely by the NHS for individuals who are not in hospital and have been assessed as having a "primary health need". NHS England organises reviews of cases where an individual, their family or their representatives are unhappy with the decision made at a local level by an Integrated Care Board (ICB). The independent review takes on board the comments of both the ICB and the appellant looking at the eligibility decision and the process followed. A detailed report is produced by the Chair which is sent to the appellant and the ICB.

The AACC Officer is a critical role in the delivery of independent reviews and is responsible for supporting the panels and managing the completion of case reviews.

The role will include managing enquires relating to the cases, and co-ordinate complex Independent Review Panels, which requires liaison with families and their advocates, Integrated Care Boards, Independent Chairs and Panel representatives, internal NHSE departments and management. The role also requires maintaining detailed administrative systems to track all individual cases

The role will be required to attend and type accurate, detailed and high-quality meeting notes at the independent review panels which can be lengthy in duration- typically, these meetings can last for four hours, however, in exceptional circumstances, they can continue throughout the day until completion. A quick turnaround is required so these can be sent to the Chair after the meeting to ensure timely completion of the panel report

The post holder is required to have excellent typing/word processing, IT skills and communications skills (both written and verbally)to be able to lead effective communicationswith a wide range of individuals.

• Enabling local systems and providers to improve the health of their people and patients and reduce health inequalities.
• Making the NHS a great place to work, where our people can make a difference and achieve their potential.
• Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care
• Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation
• Delivering value for money.
