The Associate Software Engineer role will sit within Social Security Scotland’s Chief Digital Office (CDO), which has a remit to provide infrastructure and systems to support both the wider social security programme and Social Security Scotland, including:

• Digital Risk and Cyber Protection
• Operational Delivery and Capability
• Service Management & Service Development

DDaT Pay Supplement
This post attracts a £5000 Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) pay supplement after a 3 months DDaT competency qualifying period. The payment will be backdated to your start date in the role.Pay supplements are temporary payments designed to address recruitment and retention issues caused by market pressures and are subject to regular review. This post is part of the Scottish Government DDaT profession. As a member of the profession you will join the professional development system, currently BCS Role Mode lplus.

Main Duties
• You support work to improve the availability of services and ensure that they can handle expected load.
• You participate in the activities of the information security process.
• You implement embedded security controls in solutions and services.
• You apply the principles of a modern standards approach under the guidance of others.
• You design, code, test, correct and document simple programs or scripts under the direction of others.
• You apply prototyping techniques or methods.
• You help fix faults following agreed procedures.
• You carry out agreed maintenance tasks on infrastructure.
• You assist as part of a team in the design of components of larger systems.
• You support the process of integrating systems.
• You support building and testing interfaces between systems.
• You support user experience analysis.
• You work from user stories, focusing on user needs.
