Summary

The Butcher will be responsible for preparing meat products for sale, ensuring quality and safety standards are met, and providing excellent customer service. This role involves cutting, trimming, and preparing various types of meat, as well as maintaining a clean and organised work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
**Meat Preparation:**
- Cut, trim, bone, tie, and grind meats such as beef,poultry,lamb etc.
- Prepare specialty cuts of meat ordered by customers.
- Weigh, wrap, and display cuts of meat for sale.

**Quality Control:**
- Inspect meat products for defects, bruises, or blemishes and remove them as necessary.
- Ensure all meat is stored properly and kept at the appropriate temperature.
- Monitor product quality and freshness to ensure customer satisfaction.

**Customer Service:**
- Assist customers with their orders, providing recommendations and answering questions about meat cuts, cooking methods, and storage.
- Process customer orders efficiently and accurately.
- Handle special requests and custom orders.

**Inventory and Ordering:**
- Maintain inventory of meat products and supplies.
- Order and receive meat products and supplies from vendors.
- Keep records of meat sales and inventory levels.

**Sanitation and Safety:**
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the work area, including counters, tools, and equipment.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines and regulations.
- Properly dispose of waste and by-products.

**Equipment Maintenance:**
- Sharpen and maintain knives, saws, and other cutting equipment.
- Ensure all equipment is in good working condition and report any issues to management.

Qualifications:

- Previous experience as a butcher or in a meat processing role is highly desirable but not compulsory.

**Skills:**

Excellent knife skills and knowledge of various meat cuts and processing techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items, and work in a refrigerated environment.
- Basic math skills for weighing and pricing meat products.

**Personal Attributes:**
- Customer-focused with a friendly and helpful attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to understand and follow instructions.

Working Conditions:
- Work in a refrigerated environment, often standing for extended periods.
- Handle raw meat and use sharp tools and equipment.
- Work hours may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
