Are you passionate about improving healthcare, addressing inequalities, and using the Finance function to help drive improvements in health and care outcomes for our south London population?

We have an opportunity for a creative and passionate Finance Manager to join us at the award-winning Health Innovation Network (HIN). Hosted by Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, we enjoy the benefits of being NHS members of staff whilst focusing on innovation to improve the lives of patients and staff in the health and care sector.

The main purpose of this post is to support the programme teams at the HIN with the financial management of their projects, and ensuring senior managers, executive directors, the board, and our commissioners have a clear overview of the financial position of the organisation. Innovation is at the heart of everything we do, from delivering transformational programmes to improving patient pathways, or internally with our wide range of health and mental health wellbeing initiatives.

This is a role for someone who wants to move out of the normal finance role to work most closely with project teams and contribute to the strategic direction of an exciting and interesting organisation within the NHS. External secondments from other NHS Trusts will be considered.

The post holder will report to, and work closely with, the Head of Finance & Corporate Support.

They will be a qualified accountant with significant post qualification experience, able to use accounting principals to answer queries and solve problems. They will line manage the Finance Support Officer and will be responsible for the day to day financial management of the organisation, including driving change and improvements.

They will work closely with the programme leads to ensure that individual project plans are robust and accurate. They will work with the Head of Finance & Corporate Support to produce monthly management accounts, including identifying and delivering improvements in the reporting. They will work closely with the PMO manager to drive greater synergies between finance and project management.

They will be comfortable working with, and if necessary challenging, senior colleagues. They will have high level excel skills, able to use excel to understand and answer questions as well as to build robust tools for the organisation to use to plan and track financial information. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to communicate complicated issues clearly and succinctly, both written and in person.

The Health Innovation Network works across a range of health and care services through each of our clinical and innovation themes to transform care in diabetes, patient safety, mental health, cardiovascular, and health ageing and to accelerate innovations into the NHS.

AHSNs help mobilise the value that the NHS can add as an economic asset to the UK economy. The HIN works with a range of expert support and services across the health and care sectors that support NHS innovators and companies to realise the commercial and economic potential of their innovations.
