Are you looking for a new challenge? Are you passionate, innovative, and driven to achieve change through a quality improvement approach? If so, we would love you to come and join our speech and language therapy team in Salford as the clinical SLT lead for the acute team.

We are looking for an experienced SLT to lead on and coordinate management of adults with a broad range of complex acquired communication and swallowing difficulties across the acute medical and surgical wards, including taking a lead role in management of tracheostomy, videofluoroscopy and FEES. The role includes contributing to the weekend working rota.

As a team we are committed to innovative practice, audit and research opportunities. We have good links with the Northern Care Alliance (NCA) Research and Quality Improvement (QI) teams who are able to provide specialist support for personal and team growth in these areas. Leadership training and development is also promoted across the department.

The SLT team in Salford consists of 30 SLTs working in variety of acute, outpatient and community settings and we have a strong support network available. We have good links with SLTs across the Northern Care Alliance providing wide access to expertise knowledge and skill within our profession.

The post holder will be a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist and be based within the SLT team at Salford Royal Hospital.

The post holder will work as part of the MDT across the acute medical and surgical wards.

The role will encompass the following opportunities;

Contribution to research and innovative treatment for patients with communication and swallowing.

Contribution to quality improvement projects and service development to ensure we deliver a high quality, safe, effective service for our patients.

CPD including leadership development

You will be supported to lead the acute FEES service as well as contributing to regular Videofluoroscopy clinics and providing care to acute care patients with tracheostomy.
