JOB SUMMARY To offer a specialist perspective to the multi-disciplinary team through therapeutic work, consultation, supervision, joint work and participation in team meetings and training. Provide specialist assessments and interventions to child and young people accessing the Getting Help Team and Mental Health Support Team. Participate in the review of clinical policies and guidelines relevant to the area and support and implement changes to practice; liaise with other organisations and professionals to promote communication and good practice; be able to undertake audit activity and supervision of staff. Understand psychosocial interventions to include psychoeducation, wellness recovery action plans and discharge planning. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team to maintain a caseload and provide direct clinical work that demonstrates a high level of specialist skill in treating clients with an early onset of mental health concerns. To offer training, consultation, and supervision to external agencies with regards to the mental health presentation of children and young people who are accessing the GHT/ MHST. To contribute to core Getting Help/ MHST duties such as triage, consultations and providing initial assessments. Ensuring liaison and joint working between the Getting Help / MHST and the locality Early Help Hub and specialist CAMHS services. To support, participate and promote the appropriate data outcome collection of all children and young people accessing the service. To provide leadership to the Getting Help / MHST practitioners as per service need. RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical 1. To provide specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, formulation, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the clients care, as appropriate and commensurate with skill. 2. To plan and implement formal Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychological treatment and/or management of a clients mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the clients problems, and employing methods of proven efficiency. 3. To implement a range of CBT psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses. 4. To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group. 5. To be responsible and accountable for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically based care plans. 6. To provide specialist psychological advice guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan. 7. To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management. 8. To act as lead clinician/ professional, where no other team member is involved, taking responsibility for initiating planning and review of care plans including clients, their carers, referring agents and others involved the network of care. 9. To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients under their care and to monitor progress during the course of both uni- and multi-disciplinary care. 10. To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording, report writing and the responsible exercise of professional self-governance in accordance with relevant professional codes of practice and Trust policies and procedures. 11. Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient. 12. Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service including use of routine outcome and patient experience measures. Teaching, training, and supervision 1. To receive regular clinical CBT professional supervision and if appropriate, to provide supervision to other senior professional colleagues. 2. To gain additional specialist experience and skills relevant to the discipline and the service and as agreed with the Operational Lead. 3. To provide advice, consultation and training to staff working within the Locality across a range of professions, agencies and settings, where appropriate. Management, recruitment, policy and service development 1. To advise the Clinical Team Lead on those aspects of the service where psychological and/or organisational matters need addressing. 2. To manage the workloads of trainees, within the framework of the team/services policies and procedures, as appropriate to the postholders own level of experience. 3. To be involved, as appropriate, in the shortlisting and interviewing of Getting Help/ MHST and other early intervention services staff. Research and service evaluation 1. To contribute to the development, evaluation and monitoring of the teams operational policies and services and participate in the development of high quality, responsive and accessible services. 2. To utilise theory, evidence-based literature and research to support evidence based practice in individual work and work with other team members. 3. To undertake appropriate research and provide research advice to other staff undertaking research as appropriate to own level of experience and within agreed service objectives. 4. To undertake project management, including complex audit and service evaluation, with colleagues using research methodology to address a clinical question or improve services. General and Professional Undertake CBT clinical work, training and personal development to maintain and develop clinical, CBT and leadership skills. Work at all times within Professional Code of Practice for your relevant professional body, whilst maintaining current registration status. Participate in appraisal and objective setting process and identify and meet PDP needs. Seek and receive regular planned management and clinical supervision. To complete mandatory training as required in Berkshire Healthcare. GENERAL 1.
