We are looking for enthusiastic and committed personal assistants to provide support to a child in the family home and in the community accessing leisure pursuits and hobbies. This post is open to job share.
Main Duties We are looking to recruit 1:1 support for a child both in the family home and in the community. This child has a form of Muscular Dystrophy and requires support in all aspects of daily living. This includes day to day living such as washing, dressing, undressing, all personal care aspects, toileting, and transfers. All transfers will be 2:1 as this young person is not able to be physically independent and is unable to stand or walk. However, they can make their needs known and can communicate effectively.
Driving to and from school will be a part of the daily routine. Helping with homework will be needed and getting organised for the next day is required. There is also an adapted vehicle which is used daily. Driving to and from appointments will be a requirement to this role.The condition of this young person requires some breathing and physical exercises and full training will be provided.
Support will be needed during the night to put on or take off equipment, moving reposition and toileting occasionally, training will be provided surrounding this.
This young person is sociable and enjoys being out and about, enjoys swimming, Aquafit, dancing-power wheelchair, theatre groups, going to friends' parties and being with young people of a similar age. Attends school full-time and enjoys being around school friends. Hours of work:
- 31 hrs per week 2:1 or 15.5hrs per week per PA
- 14 hrs per week 2:1 or 7hrs per week
- 26 nights per year
