As such, s/he will be expected to maintain a professional demeanor, to develop communication skills, to adhere to Trust values, and to provide leadership to the multi-disciplinary team when this is necessary, e.g. during acute clinical emergencies. Although not directly responsible for training the Surgical Care Practitioners, the surgical fellow is a colleague and teacher to the SCPs, and will on occasion take responsibility for teaching the professionals clinical interventions or procedures. Fellows are encouraged to take leadership in developing protocols or guidelines for the greater multi-disciplinary team if they see a need.
