As Group Strategy Manager, you'll lead and manage analysis that underpins the work of the Group Strategy team. This includes directly supporting SSE's CEO, Group Executive Committee (GEC) and Board in strategic decision-making by providing data, insight, and recommendations for business growth. You'll support strategy development and the communication of SSE's strategy to internal and external stakeholders.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Overseeing detailed analysis of external factors such as market trends, competitor strategies, and regulatory changes, interpreting their impact on our business.
- Supporting the CEO, GEC, and the Board in strategic decision-making with data-driven insights and actionable recommendations.
- Assessing and leading strategic initiatives spanning the organisation, focusing on the latest technologies and market opportunities.
- Managing strategy projects that address questions or issues of strategic importance to the Group e.g., strategic evaluation of partnerships & acquisitions, market entry assessments. Presenting findings and guidance to key internal stakeholders.
- Enhancing internal communications and understanding of our strategic direction through tailored training sessions and compelling narrative.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Proven experience in overseeing and delivering strategic projects, with a track record of managing multiple teams and meeting tight deadlines.
- Expertise in strategic analysis using various strategy frameworks to support corporate decision-making.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a deep understanding of strategy tools and frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills, with the capability to distil complex information into clear, impactful messages.
- A robust interest in the energy sector and renewables, paired with keen analytical skills and financial acumen.
About our BusinessOur Corporate Affairs, Regulation & Strategy (CARS) function combines three quite separate but intrinsically linked businesses, with a shared focus on advising, influencing and communicating SSE's strategy and interests with key stakeholders. This involves the interpretation of complex political and regulatory changes, skilled lobbying to inform the future energy ecosystem, and innovative communication techniques to ensure SSE's story is reached by a broad range of audiences including investors, competitors, governments, partners, suppliers, communities, and both current and prospective employees.
