Are you a dynamic, solutions focused projects and events professional with a proven track record?
We are looking for someone with a collaborative approach and excellent communication skills who works well with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including suppliers and sponsors. You must have an ability to work to tight deadlines while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
What's the role about?
The successful candidate will help us plan, deliver and evaluate the Nature of Scotland Awards Ceremony due to take place in Edinburgh on 28 November 2024.
This will be a varied and interesting role which will include managing our ticket sales through our NuTickets platform and allocating free places to finalists and VIPs. The role will also be responsible for managing the delivery of our film content through sourcing this from finalists and working with an external film maker on selected content. The post holder will also carry out a wide range of additional comms, admin and event planning tasks in collaboration with the Projects and Events Manager to ensure that the event is a success.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

Educated to degree level in any subject or equivalent experience—in marketing, business management, catering and hospitality or experience in successful event delivery.
Basics of event management, budgeting, guest management.
Experience of planning and monitoring events’ budgets.
Effective verbal and written communication to deliver clear instructions and messages to event participants about the schedule and requirements of event.
Ability to manage a number of conflicting or competing priorities within tight deadlines.
Microsoft word and word packages for diary and email management and excel spreadsheets to produce budgets and project direction
Event delivery of several small events involving 10-50 individuals and 4-6 large events involving from 50 into the hundreds.
Delivery of high profile events.
Delivery of events for high net worth individuals.
Outsourcing event management for major events and the management of the process.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

Some knowledge of the not-for-profit sector is helpful.
Some knowledge of conservation or a love of nature.

This is a part-time, fixed term, hybrid working role. It can be conducted as either:

30 hours per week for 16 weeks with an anticipated start date of 2 September 2024
or 22.5 hours per for 21 weeks with an anticipated start date of 5 August 2024

The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.
