The London Borough of Brent is situated in North-West London, with the famous Wembley Stadium at its centre. We have a vacancy based across the borough to cover both Sudbury Primary Care Centre and Willesden Centre for Health and Care.The post is full-time (37.5 hours) fixed term for one year.

The Brent 0-19 service has an exciting opportunityfor an NMC registrant, Community Specialist Public Health Nurse-Health Visiting, Community midwife, or registered nurse with a Mental Health background to join our team as thePerinatal and Infant Mental health Lead, who will work as part of the Health Visiting team coordinatingservicesprogramme to children and their families living in Brent.

The Specialist for Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Lead will provide relevant consultation, training, and support to the universal children’s services. The emphasis will be on early intervention, prevention of mental health difficulties, and the promotion of positive relationships between parents and their infants.

You will be working alongside Health Visitors, Community Staff Nurses, and Community Nursery Nurses in supporting families to best meet the needs of their children.

• Work as a Specialist Practitioner to manage, develop, and lead family-based care in the perinatal period where the parents have or are at risk of developing mental health difficulties, and where these are likely to impact their infant’s emotional development
• This will supplement the care given by the universal Health Visiting service
• Act as an advocate for parents and their infants with perinatal mental health difficulties to ensure they receive active and effective care, in a caseload. This will be done through liaison and partnership working with other agencies
• Undertake comprehensive assessments of families who are referred for additional support including assessing the needs of partners/fathers
• To provide appropriate targeted clinical interventions for women with low-moderate level perinatal illness e.g., plan and implement short-term care plans at individual level and also via targeted group work.
• To hold a small caseload of clients who require intensive mental health interventions
• Toactasarolemodelhighly demonstratingspecialistknowledgeinpracticeasthePerinatal/Infant mental healthlead,whichisunderpinnedbytheoreticalknowledgeandrelevantpracticeexperience
• Actively contribute to the development of sound clinical practice in the delivery of thePerinatal Mental HealthProgramme.
• To identify and record any problems or concerns and report back to the0-19 Services Brent Clinical Leadas appropriate.
• Participate in managerial supervision i.e., 1:1s and supporting students.
