Summary


Ward Sister/Charge Nurse – Band 7

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated nurse to manage Mckissock Ward a 21 bed Neurosurgery Ward as a Band 7.

• Manage the day to day running of the ward , ensuring effective use of resources and high standards of care which is responsive to individualised needs by appropriate delegation of workload.
• Work in close co-operation with the senior nursing team and multidisciplinary team.
• Ensure effective communication at all levels.
• Implement annual staff appraisal for all staff managed.
• Identify and promote ways of improving the service, utilising all available resources.
• To undertake surveys or audits as required.
• With support of the senior and junior team take appropriate action relating to complaints accidents and serious untoward incidents involving patients, staff and visitors.
• Demonstrate effective time management.
• Take responsibility for the maintenance, storage and safety of the equipment in accordance with trust policy.
• To act as the professional role model, leading and co-ordinating the nursing team.
• To have continuous responsibility for the management and organisation of thwart/department within the available resources.
• To be accountable for the overall provision of excellent nursing care and to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.

You will be joining an excellent nursing team that are committed to high clinical standards within a supportive environment.

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic nurse who will be responsible for the day to day clinical and managerial leadership of the ward. The post holder will be required to have excellent communication skills, demonstrable leadership skills and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi- disciplinary team. They will be highly motivated, possess sound clinical knowledge and be able to work well under pressure and an understanding of the specific neurosurgery pathways.
